Welcome

Hi, welcome to the Young Bloods website. If you have a bleeding disorder like haemophilia or von Willebrand’s or you’re a carrier or have a parent or brother or sister with one of these things then this is the best place to come for fun and information.

We’ll tell you everything you need to know about bleeding disorders in a way that you will understand. We don’t use any long medical words - we just tell you what you want to know.

We don’t just talk about bleeding disorders though: we’ll tell you about the wicked adventure holidays you can go on, what other members are up to and don’t forget you can make new friends and keep in touch with old friends through our message board!

See you inside!

Why do we ask you for information?

We want to make sure that people who use this site are who they say they are, and won't try to use it for other purposes like selling things. We want to make sure it's a safe place for you to get in touch with us and other young people who will understand what it's like to have a bleeding disorder. So if we ask for your date of birth, for example, it helps us make sure we let the right people use the site.

What will we do with it?

We won't give your personal details to anyone else or pass on any information if you don't want us to. Unless you ask us not to, we might email you from time to time to let you know about exciting competitions, or ask what you think about different issues.

If you want to ask us a confidential question, you can do that. We are only required to pass on information if we think you or another child might be in serious danger.

How do we keep you safe?

We won't put up information about you without asking you and your parent or guardian. You should always check with them before using the site or sharing any of your details. If you allow us to use your picture, we won't give your full name as this could allow people to make contact with you. We also won't give too many details about you, such as where you live.

What is it safe to tell?

You should be aware that it can be dangerous to say too much about yourself, like what part of the country you live in, your full name, your mobile number, what clubs you belong to.

We'll do our best to make the site a safe and hopefully fun place to visit! For your part, enjoy the site but please surf with care. If anything makes you uncomfortable just let us know.
