Inhibitors

What's an inhibitor?

'An inhibitor is when your body does not like the factor medicine anymore so it fights it'

More and more people are now getting something called an inhibitor. This means your normal factor stops working because your body thinks it is something bad. Usually it can go away again after a while and the factor will work again. To make this happen you might need to get treated with a lot more factor, like every day, to get your body used to it.

What happens?

Because your factor doesn't work, you need to be more careful. You might have a port in your chest to get all the treatment. You might need to rest in a wheelchair some of the time. It also means you probably can't learn to self-treat while you have it.

But hopefully it will go away again. Remember, more and more kids are now having an inhibitor for a while so you aren't the only one.
